Meet the Stoney Ridge Labs!
From left to right: Elsie, Pinot, Chessie (front), Ridge (back), Tuc (front), and Kenya (back)
No doubt about it: we're a small breeder. But we're a small breeder committed to excellence in the Labrador Retriever breed.

Our breeding Labs are only of the highest quality and come with solid pedigrees. Before breeding, we ensure they're healthy and sound by obtaining the recommended testings and certifications (to find out more about health certifications visit the Orthopedic Foundation for Animals web-site). We've carefully selected and invested heavily in our dogs to ensure perpetuation of only the best Lab traits.

We currently own six Labs:
  1. Ridge is our nine-year-old yellow (fox red end of yellow spectrum) male, our former stud, now retired.
  2. Elsie, our six-year-old yellow dam (of the more typical yellow coloring), is a wonderful, attentive mom and produces gorgeous pups with strong retrieving instincts and abundant people affection.
  3. Kenya, our nearly-four-year-old black dam has shaped up nicely by breed standard, and produces gorgeous, wiggly, people-oriented puppies with strong retrieving and people orientations.
  4. Tuc, our almost three-year-old black sire, came to us as a 7-week-old from a solid, reputable breeder in Arizona. He's a solid, athletic, eager-to-please, high energy boy whose greatest joys in life are people, water, and retrieving.
  5. Pinot is our three year-old yellow (fox red end of the yellow spectrum) female, the puppy we chose from Elsie-Ridge's first litter in 2007. She's a strong field Lab with incredible focus, drive, and eagerness to please. Her greatest joy in life is retrieving, followed closely by her love for people.
  6. Chessie, our one-year old chocolate girl, came from Kenya's first litter (March 2010). Chessie is shaping up nicely to be a future dam for us. She's too young, however, for final assessments at this time.
All six live in the house with us, possess wonderful, people-pleasing, people-oriented temperaments, demonstrate the intelligence, eagerness, and affection Labs are known for, and have been exposed to basic training and retreiving (and are at various stages in their training progress and development).

You'll find out more detailed information about each of our Labs in the sections below.

Our Dams: Kenya (black) and Elsie (yellow)
Kenya (back) and Elsie (front)
Elsie, our yellow dam (front in image on left), has turned out to be a wonderful, healthy mom who produces solid pups with strong retrieving instincts, people-pleasing orientations, intelligence, and great affection.

Kenya (rear, on hammock, in photo on left) is shaping up to have stong conformation to the Lab breed standard and incredibly strong retrieving instincts (she's always carrying something appropriate in her mouth). She's our wiggly, happy-go-lucky girl, and we'll have her fully screened in August, 2008, when she turns two years old, with an eye toward mating her in the winter for spring 2009 puppies. We can't wait to see how her tests and puppies turn out!

See details on both below.

Elsie and Kenya - our dams
Elsie: Strong pedigree, super retrieving instincts, and sweet, affectionate disposition
yellow Labrador retriever
Elsie, our mature dam
Elsie is our three-year-old, cream-colored (yellow) dam, and what follows are her certifications and pedigree.

She's incredibly sweet, gentle, and affectionate, yet strong, intelligent, and capable in the field. She makes a great mom to her litters, socializing the pups well and paying prompt attention to their needs.

You can view Elsie's OFA certifications on-line at OFA, her CHIC records at CHIC, or view her certs below in the certification boxes. After her certs below, you'll find several photos capturing Elsie's essence. Enjoy!
